ROUGH PLUCKED & DRESSED POULTRY

On Wednesday 21st December, Harrison & Hetherington Limited, Carlisle held their annual Christmas poultry sale of rough plucked and dress birds.
A large gathering of customers were present for the annual poultry sale, although numbers of birds were down on the year prices were much higher.
Top price was for an oven ready bird from Smith Bros, Poulton attaining up to £70 for a run of quality birds. The annual consignment from Messrs Storrow, Willimoteswick topped at £62 for rough plucked Bronze turkeys.
Best price per Kilo was for two lots of three in one bird, a Guinea Fowl in a Duck in a Chicken making £9.38 per kg. Oven ready geese made up to £35, Oven ready Chickens making up to £16 or £5 per kg, pheasants making £8 and ducks to £8.
