At Lockerbie Market on Monday, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held
there weekly sale of 832 Prime & cast ewes and 43 cast cows.
Cast Cows: A very good show of 43 cast cows were forward
and remained a very good trade for the large show forward. Top price
was £875 for an Aberdeen Angus cow from the Barony College. Messrs Kenyon,
New Farm, sold an Aberdeen Angus bull to £830 – 128ppk. Other cast cows
from Messrs Halliday, Crawthat sold to £800 for a fantastic Limousin.
Holstein Friesian from Barony College sold to £775 and £760. Feeding
cows were again best to sell.

Angus Bull £830 New Farm.
Prime Sheep:- A larger show of 832 Prime hoggs and cast
sheep were forward and sold to a similar trade as last week with an overall
average of 191ppk. A good quality show was forward this was shown in
the overall sale trade. Top price came from Messrs Bell, Hoddamtown with
a texel cross hogg selling to £92.50 whilst top price per kilo came from
D & D Aitken, Uppercleugh
with a pen of Beltex x selling to 228.9 ppk.

Cast Ewes: Cast ewes sold to £120 for a Suffolk ewe from Messrs Nichol,
Lawston, Newcastleton, whilst texels sold to £116.50 and £113.5 twice
from Messrs Black, Craighouse. Leaner types sold dearest by far. Many
more could have been sold.
