At Lockerbie Mart on Monday 30th January, Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their weekly sale of Primestock where 322 prime hoggs and 28 cast cows were sold.

Prime Sheep: Prime hoggs were in a general, lacking the required finish, but well finished hoggs were selling to £105 for a pen of 44kg Beltex from Messrs Halliday of Crawthat. The same home sold Beltex to 2.39ppk, and the overall average was 208ppk.

Leading Prices per head: Beltex £105, £92 (x2) Crawthat, Suffolk £100 Holm, Texel £92 Crawthat, Cheviot £88 Potholm.

Cast Cows: Cast cows were very dear, selling to £1105 for a Limousin cow from Messrs J Common & Son of Crossdykes. Dairy cows were scarce and dear with learner cows making a tremendous trade.
