A entry of 2,556 sheep were forward at Kirkby Stephen on Tuesday night consisting of 1,752 prime lambs, 403 Cast ewes & rams and 401 store lambs.
A fantastic trade for all classes of sheep was achieved with the overall average being 7p/kg up on the week. A busy ringside of 16 active buyers present, ensured that all classes of sheep were keenly bid.
Pens of smart Continental cross lambs were in great demand with many pens regularly achieving 175-200p/kg. Topping at 201.9p/kg were superb Beltex lambs consigned by Messrs Dodd, West View, who also topped per head at £86.80 and where purchased by Riley Bros, Burnley.
Store lambs were in the usual great demand with a similar trade to recent weeks being achieved, many more could have been sold.
Cast ewes and rams were one of the dearest trades seen in recent weeks, with all classes being much sharper.
