At Lockerbie Mart on Monday 14th March, Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their weekly sale of Primestock.
Cast Cows: A large show
of cast cows met a super trade selling to £865 for a 726kg from Messrs
R Robson, Laverockhall. Holstein cows to £835 for a 740 kg from Mess
J S Sanderson & Son, Wamphraygate. Cast bulls
sold to £1000 for a 882 kg from Messrs A & M Duncanson, Marchbank
. A Holstein bull from Mr D Hyslop, Meinside sold at £905 weighing £758
kg.

Prime Sheep: A magnificent show of 540 Cheviot hoggs were forward for the Show and Sale on behalf of the Hill Cheviot Sheep Society and all consignors were rewarded with a record breaking trade with the Show hoggs averaging 221p/kg.
The Judge, Mr Bill McKinnon of Scotbeef Ltd, Bridge of Allan awarded the Championship to Andrew Reid, Glendearg with 40kg selling at 245p/kg or £98 to Mr C Anderson, for West Scottish Lamb, Carlisle. Reserve came from Messrs Cartner, Blackwood Rigg with 41kg, £91 (222p/kg) to Scotbeef Ltd, Bridge of Allan

Outwith the Show lambs record continued to fall with hoggs selling to £105.50 for Beltex from Messrs G & W Halliday, Crawthat. NCC to £102 for a pen from Mrs J Jackson, Ericstane and to 236p/kg for another pen of Beltex from Ericstane whilst Texels from Messrs C R Graham & Son, Carruthers sold at 233p/kg. Overall average for all hoggs was 214p/kg with 8 active buyers at the ringside
