BROUGHTON CHRISTMAS PRIMESTOCK SHOW & SALE
Wednesday 28th November 2011

At Broughton on Wednesday 28th November, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Christmas Show and Sale of Prime Cattle and Sheep. A total entry of 30 cows and bulls and 391 Prime Lambs and ewes were forward.

Prime Cattle
Mr Mark Duerden of Duerden Wholesale Meats Ltd, presided over the cattle judging; presenting the Championship award to a Limousin bullock from Messrs RW & JM Johnson, Hobkinground Farm. A vibrant ringside crowd guaranteed that all classes were good to sell. The day’s top price per kilo was 280p; paid for the show champion from Messrs Johnson. The leading overall price went to Mr ID Rawlinson of Quarry Bank Farm, for a Blonde cow which sold for 164p/kg at 958kg £1574.

Prime Sheep
Mr Neil Lomax was tasked with judging the sheep classes, awarding the Championship to a Beltex lamb from Messrs RA & C Benson which went on to top the sale at 236p/kg £106.
