Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their sale of Prime sheep at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Tuesday night. A mixed selection of hoggs with a large entry of light hill hoggs forward met a fast selling trade throughout. Quality export types met another flying trade selling to a top of 226p/kg for Beltex‘s from Mr D Thompson, Midtown Farm. Heavy hoggs sold to £93.50 for 46 kilo Beltex’s from TW Hutchinson, Bail Hill. Light Swaledale hoggs sold to £52.50 for 30kg from Messrs Raine, Croft Farm.
Prior to the sale the annual show of Prime Swaledale hoggs took place, kindly sponsored by Alderson Garage, Nateby and judged by James Thompson, Vion Food Group Ltd.
