Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale at Kirkby Stephen mart on Tuesday where there was an Easter prize Show & sale of Prime Cattle and Spring lambs.

The Easter Prime stock Show Prizes were generously sponsored by The Black Bull Inn, Nateby & Dugdale Nutrition, Clitheroe and was most ably judged by Gavin Little, The Arcade, Penrith. 

EASTER PRIME BEAST
IAN SOWERBY (VENDOR) GAVIN LITTLE (JUDGE) AND KEVIN SOWERBY (VENDOR)

The Championship in the cattle section was awarded to a superb Limousin Cross Bullock consigned by Messrs G Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside, this bullock later sold for 214.50p/kg (£1295.58) to the judge. 

Top price of the day being 237.50p/kg (£1306.25) for a marvellous Limousin cross Heifer consigned from the same good home, selling to Messrs Dowding Butchers, The Arcade, Appleby.  Another wonderful heifer from Messrs Birkbeck, Castle Hill, Soulby and sold for 217.50p/kg (£1013.55) to Messrs Steadman Butchers, Kirkby Stephen.

10 Spring Lambs were presented to the judge, the championship being awarded to a Suffolk lamb consigned by Messrs Capstick, Lockholme Hall, Ravenstonedale, selling for £108 (234.40p/kg) to Messrs Steadman Butchers, Kirkby Stephen

A larger show of 1405 sheep were forward with a full ringside of 15 buyers present, resulted in a magnificent trade for all classes of sheep.  Topping at 229.50p/kilo were a pen of superb Beltex hoggs consigned by Messrs Brown, Beechwood House and topping per head at £103.80 were also a pen of Beltex hoggs shown by Messrs Wearmouth, Birch Bush.

A larger show of 255 cast ewes and rams witnessed an increased ringside of buyers which resulted in an unbelievable trade for all classes sold.
