David Dickinson – gifted auctioneer and stockman
Tributes were paid by friends and colleagues across the country's
agricultural community to David Dickinson, the livestock auctioneer
whose gavel fell on leading priced pedigree beef and sheep in the
UK, who died in November, aged 52. [more]
Changes to targeting in the HLS
The Higher Level Scheme (HLS) is the top tier of the Government’s
Environmental Stewardship initiative, administered by Natural England.
It is designed to deliver significant environmental benefits in
high priority areas and situations, while providing a level of
income to the farmer or landowner that is commensurate with those

Shares sold
At the annual meeting, shareholders agreed the proposed
final dividend of
13.5 pence to be paid to shareholders on December 7, 2007.
Following the meeting an auction of shares took place in ring
1 at
Borderway. Almost 1600 shares were sold at an average price of £12.22
with a
top price reached of £13.00.

at the

Non-livestock income helps Group in 2007

With the re-emergence of foot and mouth in August
2007, the H&H
Group was fortunate to have five other operating companies with
income streams continuing undisturbed, chief executive Trevor Hebdon

CAP - major changes on the way
The recent, so called “health check” of
the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has thrown up some potential
major changes for the industry in the future.
These potential changes are based on the 2003 reforms
to the CAP and are essentially separate from the current review
of the sugar sector, the temporary suspension of set-aside for
2008, the prospective change to the 10 month rule and the changes
being made to the administration of cross compliance. [more]
Farms sold
Properties sold by H&H Bowe this autumn included Bruntwood, a 282 acre grassland farm suitable for dairy and beef was well received. Guided at £1.2 million it sold well in excess of this price. [more] |
