ADAS is running a series of free events for farmers and their advisers on Fertiliser and Manure Management with particular reference to the new NVZ proposals. The meetings are being organised as part of the Defra-funded Environment Sensitive Farming project. Defra’s proposals for the revision of the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs) and the associated Action Programme measures were released on 21 August and the industry has until 13 November to comment. The events will be of interest to all farmers and advisers looking to improve their nutrient management and manure handling and storage systems. They will provide an opportunity to plan fertiliser use and manure management for this and future seasons. Topics to be covered will include: the proposed changes to the NVZ requirements relevant to fertiliser and manure management; assessing crop nutrient requirements; nutrients supplied by applied manures and the soil itself; manures storage and handling; cover crops and the nutrient planning software systems, PLANET and MANNER. The following events have already been set-up. Others will be added
so keep checking the website at www.environmentsensitivefarming.co.uk To be sure of a place farmers will need to book in advance. For more information or to reserve a place visit www.environmentsensitivefarming.co.uk, call 0845 602 3864, or email Fred.DeBoise@adas.co.uk | |||||||||||
