H&H Insurance Brokers makes Scottish Appointment

Laura Downing

Laura Downing brings experience of both agriculture and insurance to her new role as area development manager for H&H Insurance Brokers in Scotland.

Laura, who is based in Perth, has been appointed by the subsidiary company of the H&H Group, Carlisle, to handle a rapidly increasing client portfolio across Scotland.

Previously she specialised in livestock insurance and claims for four years as an account executive with Perth based insurance company Fraser Tennant.

Originally from Warwickshire, it was working on a beef and sheep farm at Aucterarder in the school holidays which sparked Laura’s keen interest in agriculture.

This led her to study for a degree in agriculture at SAC in Edinburgh where she specialised in livestock, prior to taking up her appointment in Perth.

She said: “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work for a forward-thinking insurance company which has its sights set on expansion.”

H&H Insurance Brokers managing director Philip Pagin said: “Laura has both academic and practical experience of farming which complements her experience in the agricultural insurance industry. Her addition to the team will add greatly to our presence in Scotland.”

While Laura will spend much of her time visiting clients, she will be based at least one day a week in offices at The Bank of Scotland’s Perth centre at the Broxden Roundabout business park.
