This year will be the 20th Borderway Black and White Sale - and a special anniversary deserves a special sale on Saturday December 2nd 2006, writes pedigree dairy auctioneer Glyn Lucas. Over the years this sale has become a market leader in providing Holstein breeders a platform to market their elite cattle. As breeders have come to expect the very best, this year will be no exception.
Selling for the first time will be a Durham daughter from Skychief Adeen EX 96 full sister to the EX 97 Shoremar Alicia. This calf is consigned by Skyhigh Holsteins and already it has international interest. Another first that should create massive interest will be a choice of either a Dundee or Shottle from six pregnancies from last years All American Snr. 2yr Vandyk-K Integ Paradise ETN 2 VG89 2yr. This exciting lot is consigned by Smiddiehill Holsteins who have also three other lots from leading cow families from their much admired herd of show winning beauties. For the first time in many years our neighbours from mainland Europe will have the chance of buying at our sale. We already have had a lot of interest in the sale from outside the UK so we have decided to run a two and three day tour for our international guests. Helen Wilson is our events manager. Groups arriving from either Newcastle or Glasgow airports can be collected by coach and then enjoy a trip full of great cattle and beautiful countryside. Helen said: "I am delighted to be involved with the Black and White Sale. My father Gordon originally started the sale along with Edward Brown and the late Michael Armstrong so I have a strong family connection with the event. I am looking forward to introducing the Black and White into new counties."
