Second spring sheep dog sale

Following on from the success of last year's inaugural sale of working sheep dogs at Lazonby, Harrison & Hetherington is staging another auction at Lazonby Mart on May 10th 2006.

Sheepdog SaleAt last year's sale a total of 29 dogs sold to a top price of 1,500gns for an 18 month old registered dog which had been placed in nursery trials.

"We had a lot of very positive feedback after last year's event and many people asked when the next would be held," said auctioneer Ted Ogden. "Many were also saying that a spring sale of working dogs for this area had been called for and there were comments about the setting with the flat field being useful for handlers to run their dogs and potential purchasers having plenty of opportunity to see them," he added.

Once again there will be a section for registered and unregistered dogs from 12 months old as well as for unbroken young dogs and puppies from three to 12 months old.

Last year entries were drawn from across the north of England with dogs selling to further afield. Working dogs averages £752.52 with unbroken dogs and puppies at £110.77.
