Speedier insurance service

Borderway Insurance Brokers is now able to provide a quicker and more efficient insurance service, which can be tailored to each farm's individual needs through its own scheme with Norwich Union.

The scheme with the largest broker-led farm insurer in the UK is administered by Peter Horn, who joined Borderway Insurance Brokers' Penrith office earlier this year. "Normally there is a time delay from us visiting a client and giving them a quotation and we wanted to provide a quicker service to farmers," said director Andrew Cuthbertson. "We agreed our own scheme with Norwich Union, who given the experience Peter has underwriting farm risks means we have the ability to quote in our own office as well as accept cover. This results in being able to provide quotations much quicker and with greater accuracy as well as tailoring the policy to each client's needs. "It also gives us the ability to quote on the farm, if necessary." The scheme allows the flexibility not only to cover the farming risk but also to cover diversified activities on the farm, all within one compact policy. This eliminates the issue of dual insurance which is often the problem when a farmer seeks alternative/additional income streams.

Borderway Insurance Brokers can also through the scheme offer a motor policy package which has the flexibility to provide any driver cover for all vehicles plus free legal expenses and breakdown cover.

The agricultural vehicle section provides cover automatically for all implements and trailers including livestock trailers whether attached or detached and out of use. "Not only is the scheme quicker and more efficient, it also cuts down on the amount of paperwork limiting it to just one policy - and it is offered at a competitive cost," said Mr Cuthbertson.
