The appointment of Andy Dyer as senior agricultural adviser will further enhance the services offered to farmers by Carlisle based land agency H&H Bowe.
Mr Dyer, who joins the H&H Group subsidiary at the end of August and brings with him extensive farm management advice and knowledge both from his work as a consultant and from his experience as a farm manager for 21 years. For the last two years Mr Dyer, who lives at Glassonby, near Penrith, has been responsible for developing the agricultural consultancy business at north east based agents Land Factor, where he has established many clients and contacts in the north of England and the south of Scotland. As well as offering day to day farm management advice, at H&H Bowe he will be dealing with a range of professional work, including advising on a raft of new regulations facing farmers and land managers, including soil management and resource protection as well as farm waste. “I am looking forward to working with the H&H Bowe team using my range of skills to further strengthen and increase the services offered to clients and moving towards a ‘one-stop shop’ for land agency and professional farming advice,” said Mr Dyer. H&H Bowe’s managing director John Robson said: “Andy’s appointment gives us additional expertise in areas where we see great opportunities to expand our service to farmers. “In his new role, Andy will also take on some of the work of Nigel Parmenter who is leaving us to join AMC as regional agricultural manager for the north of England and Scotland which we see as a positive move both for Nigel and H&H Bowe’s successful relationship with AMC.” Although born in the north west of England, Andy’s career began in farm management in Scotland after he graduated in agriculture with honours from Aberdeen University. After three years as assistant farm manager with the Hensol Estates at Castle Douglas he was appointed farm manager with Barjarg Estates, Auldgirth, Dumfries, responsible for all the agricultural operations of the 550-acre principally beef and sheep farm. Then for 13 years until his move to consultancy work, he managed the 13,000-acre Ancaster Estates at Crieff, Perthshire, responsible for the day to day management as well as the organic conversion of the arable, beef and sheep enterprises. He joined CSH in Penrith in 2003 as their agricultural consultant before further developing this role when a management buyout resulted in the formation of Land Factor. Andy and his wife Sue have two young children. Outside agriculture, he enjoys water skiing and fell walking and is vice-chairman of Langwathby School governors. | |||||||||||
