Heavy metal adds to machinery sales

The introduction of a themed heavy metal element is adding a new dimension to monthly implement sales at Borderway Mart.

The first of the Heavy Metal sales in April which included 15 skid steers and various attachments from the business run by the late Mike Ewin, of Appleby, attracted interest from across the country.

Auctioneer Andrew Templeton said:
"We had a lot of interest and machinery went as far afield as Yorkshire and Northern Ireland. "Because details of entries before the sale were on our website we even had a call from a prospective purchaser from Madeira who was interested in a digger!"

The inaugural sale was followed by a selection of diggers, dumper trucks and other plant from Carlisle construction company Ken Hope in conjunction with the sale on May 2. The aim of the themed sales is to attract prestige second hand implements and machinery to complement the implement sales which generally attract up to 700 lots including tractors and agricultural machinery to small tools and equipment.

A sale of vintage machinery is planned for September followed by builder's plant and machinery the next month. "Any companies who have plant and machinery to sell can get in touch with me to discuss a sale. We can also stage auctions on the vendor's own premises," said Andrew Templeton.
