Prices achieved for properties sold at H & H Bowe's first major property sale of 2005 in March showed that there is still a strong demand for farms and land in Cumbria. It was the final of four properties up for auction on March 30 in the Shepherds Inn Kirklinton Park Farm which sold as a whole for £1,080,000 (£4,580 per acre). A desirable stock farm, Kirklinton Park sold with substantial farmhouse with a good range of traditional sandstone buildings and attached modern buildings and 235 acres of land.
The first property in the auction was 57.96 acres of land at Greenholme Lodge, Corby Hill, Carlisle which was available in four lots. Lot 1 sold for £88,000 (£12,846 per acre), Lot 2 for £220,000 (£9,239 per acre), Lot 3 for £110,000 (£7,119 per acre) and Lot 4 for £45,000 (£3,797 per acre). The second property to be sold was 54.27 acres of land at Yanwath near Penrith in two lots. Lot 1 sold for £120,000 (£3,407 per acre) with Lot 2 selling for £84,000 (£4,409 per acre). The third property for sale was 49.28 acres of land at Croft Head, Ivegill which was sold privately after the auction. H&H Bowe's Nigel Parmenter said: "As a result of our marketing campaigns on these properties, H & H Bowe has a number of buyers still looking for properties and we would be pleased to advise anyone considering the sale of their land or farm." | |||||||||||
