Beef Expo 2006 comes to Borderway

Plans for the National Beef Association's major annual event for the UK beef industry Beef Expo 2006 at Borderway Mart on Friday June 2 are already being progressed by the local organising committee.

Beef Expo
Plans: Members of the Beef Expo 2006 organising committee, left to right, Michael Scott, John Geldard, chairman Ian Watson, Keith Harryman, David Pritchard, organiser Euan Emslie, Robert Robinson, Clive Brown and Neil Fell. Missing from the photograph are vice-chairmen Bryn Davies and Andrew Wright, David Thomlinson and Eddie Gillanders.

It is hoped the beef industry will be experiencing more buoyant times by June following the long-awaited dismantling of the Over Thirty Month Slaughter (OTMS) scheme and the resumption of exports of beef from the UK. Receipt of the Single Farm Payment will also mean that farmers will have money to invest to strengthen their farm businesses.

Features of Beef Expo will include practical demonstrations, educational exhibits, beef breed displays, seminars and trade stands. The emphasis will be on performance, health, efficiency of production, profitability and marketing.

The 15-strong organising committee for Beef Expo is chaired by Carleton, Carlisle farmer Ian Watson.

The event organiser is:
Euan Emslie, 3 Briar Close, Newport, Brough, East Yorkshire. HU15 2QY.
Tel: 01430 441870. Mobile: 07718 908523.
