Putting their best feet forward for charity...
 |
| Matthew Elliott |
H&H Group staff have been testing their stamina and their nerve all
in the name of charity.
Borderway Insurance Brokers' clerk Matthew Elliott,
raised more than £400 for MacMillan Nurses when
he took part in the recent Great North Run on Tyneside.
Taking part in
the run for the first time, Matthew completed the 13.1 mile half marathon
in one hour and 48 minutes.
Last November he did a fitness and exercise
course at Newcastle University and he began his solo training programme
for the run in June using country roads around Carlisle. The 21-year
old is no newcomer to sport - he used to run with the Border Harriers
and play football. Now he has his sights set on taking part in the 10km
Great Ireland run in Dublin next March as well as doing the Great North
Run again - this time he threatens with a Borderway Insurance Brokers'
team!

| Anne Strong |
Anne Strong, from Borderway’s main office raised £730
for the Anthony Nolan Trust when she abseiled 140ft from the top of Carlisle’s
Civic Centre.
She was among 105 people on the day to raise cash for leukaemia
sufferers.
Anne, who says her next challenge is a bungee jump, said afterwards
that doing the abseil was much easier than watching others doing it once
she had got to the ground!
