PEDIGREE DAIRY AUCTIONEER APPOINTMENT
He is from a farming background in Northern Ireland where until 1996 his family ran a pedigree dairy herd before emigrating to farm in Canada. Since 1993 Glyn, aged 27, has spent time in Canada showing and preparing dairy cattle for the top shows including Madison and the Royal. He turned out champion cattle for famous herds including Cherown Holsteins and Browndale Holsteins and for the last six years he has specialised in the work full time. It has taken him to South America and all over Europe where he has worked with renowned herds including Wiensenfield in Germany and Cassleverde in Italy. Always having an interest in auctioneering, he then attended the World Wide College of Auctioneers in Mason City, Iowa, where he qualified as a “colonel” in US auctioneering terms. He has returned to the UK following his engagement to Hazel Park. “ Auctioneering in the States is a little bit rowdier and more excitable than here but I’m looking forward to getting into the rostrum here,” said Glyn. He has specialised in developing a deep knowledge of pedigrees and top rank dairy cattle. In this country he has enjoyed success showing cattle, having been the champion handler at the National Calf Show representing Northern Ireland Holstein Young Breeders in 1997. Edward Brown, Harrison & Hetherington’s director and senior dairy auctioneer, said: “I’m delighted that Glyn has joined us to further strengthen the pedigree dairy team with his worldwide experience particularly in North America. He will add a new dimension to certain aspects of our work.” | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
