supported during July with numbers forward rising to over 1,000 head
per week.
Trade has been sharp and has compared well with the national average,
and more can be accommodated to satisfy customer demand.
Team
expands thanks to more sales
When Kevin Kendal was given the task of
developing the 'non-livestock' sales at Kendal Auction Mart just 15
months ago, little did he know
that the success of the sale room, farm dispersal and implement sales
during that period would grow at such a pace.
In the first nine months of developing the sales Kevin and his team
exceeded their targets by nearly 40 per cent.

Already in the first half of this year the income is exceeding target
by 51per cent. The rapid pace of growth has meant that long-standing
yard employee David 'Larry' Hunter has now been employed as Kevin's
sale room assistant on a permanent basis.
David has worked for the company since 1994 and many customers will
know him from working in the yard at all Kendal's livestock sales.
David's growing interest in the development of sales such as antiques,
carpets, collectables, farm machinery and specialist catalogued sales
meant he was the perfect choice when Kevin realised he needed more
help to keep up with the demand for more and more sales to be added
to the fixtures list.
With Davids assistance Kevin now has more time to visit customers to
conduct valuations and appraisals and to develop the now monthly sale
of implements, farm machinery and builders plant.
David Hunter can be contacted at Kendal Auction Rooms on 01539 733770
every Tuesday Wednesday and Friday.
Busy times ahead at Broughton The directors
and staff working at Broughton Auction Mart, operated by the H & H
Kendal Partnership, are already planning ahead for the busy sales season.
Following on from last year’s successful autumn show of store
cattle, this year they plan to hold an even bigger show of store cattle
on Tuesday August 31.
There is demand for good strong cattle for this sale and entries are
already being taken for the catalogue.
The sale will also be held in conjunction with a show and sale of Half
bred sheep which will be sponsored by Broughton Auction Mart itself
with two classes for best pen of shearlings and best pen of ewes.
