AUCTIONEER MICHAEL JOINS THE LOCKERBIE TEAM
The new appointment coincides with the start of the final stage of the refurbishment programme for Lockerbie Mart with the renewal of covered pennage roofing, affirming Harrison & Hetheringtons commitment to the further development of its operation in south west Scotland. His grandfather farmed at Courance and Michael was at school in Lockerbie before he began his training as a livestock auctioneer. Michael Stewart (FIA Scot) joins Harrison & Hetheringtons Lockerbie operation from James Craig in Ayr where he started as office junior when he was 15. Now aged 28, he has developed extensive contacts in the store cattle trade in Scotland and he has also specialised in selling sheep. "Im coming back to my roots and I still have a lot of family and friends in the area which I know well. I can remember when by father was selling ewe lambs at Lockerbie and I am looking forward to being part of the team which can build on the companys business for the future," said Michael, who always wanted to work within the livestock industry. David Thomlinson, Harrison & Hetherington farmstock sales and marketing director, said: "Michael's extensive contacts and knowledge of the region will bring a new dimension to the Lockerbie team as we build on our live sales and livestock brokerage in south west Scotland." Strong links will be maintained with Borderway at Carlisle and Michael will be supported in the rostrum at Lockerbie by auctioneer John Wharton and other members of the team. Michael, whose fiancée Beverley Telfer is a graphic designer in Glasgow, plans to make his home in Moffat. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
