INTERNATIONAL JUDGE FOR NORTHERN DAIRY EXPO SHOW

Entries are invited for the Northern Expo Holstein Show which takes place at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Wednesday October 30.

The show is open to all Holstein UK registered animals and has attracted prize money in the region of £2,000.

The evening show which starts at 6.15pm will be judged by international judge Chris Lang, the eighth generation of Langs to be involved with Springhill and Langacres since it was established in 1819.

The family is in the process of completing an expansion project that will include milking some 450 Holsteins in Big Prairie, Ohio. Chris is in charge of the merchandising programme which includes placing bulls in AI, exporting cattle and embryos, and exhibiting cattle at shows from local to national level.

An experienced public speaker, Chris has visited the UK, Czech Republic and Spain as well as speaking around the USA about Springhill cattle. He has also judged over 50 shows in Ohio. In the last three years he has coached the local FFA dairy judging team to three top five finishes in the state of Ohio.

Springhill was named Premier Breeder at the highly competitive Ohio State Fair in 2000 and has exhibited or bred five National Grand / Reserve Champion Females and numerous other class winners at state and national level.

At the Northern Expo Show Chris will be judging 28 classes and special awards from senior cow in milk to yearling heifer, best exhibitor bred animal and a top breeders group award.
