KIRKBY STEPHEN LUKE FAIR

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual ‘Luke Fair’ cattle sale at Kirkby Stephen mart on Monday 17th October 2005, where there was an entry of 1,003 head.

It would be hard to find a finer selection of quality strong store cattle than was seen at this years sale, with many of the good annual consignments averaging close on last years prices.

Leading the way at £800 in the bullock section was Mr A Maughan, Rennals House, Great Asby with a fabulous black Belgian Blue cross to end with a run of 6 bullocks averaging £734, whilst heifers topped at £735 for homebred Limousin cross from Messrs G Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside.

Overall bullocks averaged £504.44 (down £28.87 from 2004), and heifers averaged £443.17 (down £8.78 from 2004).
