BORDERWAY ANNIVERSARY STORE CATTLE SHOW & SALE 2005

On Wednesday 24th August 2005, Harrison & Hetherington Limited, Carlisle held their Anniversary show and sale of 1776 store cattle which was very kindly sponsored by Burnetts (Solicitors) and Barclays Bank. The biggest one day sale of cattle in the North of England were presented in tremendous condition to a massive attendance of bidders. Trade was marvellous with smart well finished cattle being particularly sought after.

The pre-sale judging was very ably carried out by Mr David Wright of Buxton, Derbyshire. The championship rosette was awarded to a Limousin cross heifer shown by Messrs JJ & E Lawson of Kirkland Green, Mealsgate, Carlisle. Sired by a pure bred Limousin bull and out of a pure bred Belgian Blue mother, the heifer was sold for £800 to Messrs Scott & Co of Gateside, Linlithgow.

The Reserve Champion ticket was presented to Messrs Batty of Flimby Hall, Maryport for their first prize Belgian Blue cross steer. He later sold for £720 to Messrs W Bainbridge & Son of Greystone House, Stokesley.

Topping the sale at £1500 was a very stylish Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Graham of Miller Hill, Gilsland, Carlisle.
