CARLISLE SPECIAL CONTINENTAL STORE CATTLE SALE
WEDNESDAY 19th MAY 2004
On Wednesday 19th May 2004, Harrison & Hetherington Limited, Carlisle
held their special May show and sale of continental cross store cattle
when they presented a catalogued entry of 1,505 head.
An outstanding
show of quality cattle met one of the dearest trades seen all year with
buyers travelling from as far afield as Cornwall to Aberdeen, ensuring
that prices exceeded all expectations.
The pre-sale judging was very ably carried out by Mr Brian smith and
Mrs Angela Tarry-Smith of Redhouse, Warwick.

The Championship ticket
was presented to a
Limousin cross steer from Mr Peter Richardson of Sandhills, Bassenthwaite Lake,
Keswick. The 10 month old steer was sired by a non registered Limousin bull
and bred out of a black Limousin cross cow, he later sold for the top
price of the
event £1,450 and went to Mr DL Owen of Glanllyn, Anglesey.
The Reserve
Championship rosette was awarded to a 9 month old Belgian Blue cross heifer
from Messrs JC & SE Little of The Guards, Ireby. This heifer, by the registered
Belgian Blue bull Tamhorn Ocker and bred from a pure bred Limousin cow, was knocked
down for £780 to judges Messrs Smith.
