British Vendeen Sheep Society A strong demand prevailed at the Vendeen sheep society’s premier show and sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, attracting a good ringside of buyers.
Topping the sale at 700gns was shearling ram from Will Vernon-Miller of the Berryfields flock based at Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire. Berryfields Denver is a January born group 2 son of the 2003 Breed Champion at the Great Yorkshire show. He was sold to WN & J Briggs of Halferne, Castle Douglas. Following at 620gns was another shearling ram this time from the Lyham flock of RN Howie & Ptrs, Chatton, Alnwick. Lyham Dakota, a February born sired lamb of Blackwell Vivaque, was purchased by RW Rowlinson of Musden Grange, Ashbourne. Selling up to 600gns was the second entry into the sale ring a shearling ram from Charles Vernon-Miller of the Blackwell flock based at Shipston-on-Stour. Blackwell Different, an ARR/ARR group ram was bred from the Blackwell Commandant sire which had sold earlier in the sale. He was knocked down to KR Till & Sons of Spring House Farm, Thirsk.
Supreme Champion of the day was an aged ram from the Blackwell flock of Charles Vernon-Miller. Blackwell Commandant already has show credits to his name winning breed champion at this years Great Yorkshire Show. He was sold for 540gns to S Whiteford of St. Johns Kirk, Biggar. Averages – 14 shearling rams £381.00, 5 lamb rams £249.90, 6 shearling gimmers £234.50. |
