Local breeders Jack and Daphne Irving of Gretna saw their Stonehouse pedigree flock of Texels come under the hammer as they were dispersing their flock in order to take life a little easier.

1,600gns

Leading the sale at 1,600gns was a very flashy 2 shear ewe which caught the attraction of many buyers. A daughter of Hillhead Image and out of a Blackstown Fisherman bred daughter from Alwent, she sold in lamb to Templand Lance a Thacka Keepsake bred sire. Successful buyer was George Wilkinson of Arkleby House, Aspatria.

Also reaching the four figure mark at 1,000gns was a shearling gimmer selling in lamb to Baltier King. A daughter of Forkins Jacko and out of a dutch bred mother, she was finally knocked down to James Maxwell & Son of Drumrae Farm, Whithorn.
An Annan bred 3 shear ewe early in the sale sold at 750gns. Sired by Penstones Highline and going back to Alwent Flint on her mothers pedigree, she sold in lamb to Craighead Hercules. She went to two of the regions younger breeders Thomas and Victoria Illingworth of Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie.

The next lot into the sale ring, also a 3 shear Annan bred ewe, went for 720gns. A daughter of Woodmarsh Hallmark and out of a Baltier Freddie mother, she also sold in lamb to Craighead Hercules. She sold to Messrs S & H Graham & Son of Hallrigg, Plumpton, Penrith.

Also this day saw the major reduction sale of the Gwestydd flock from Messrs TG & PM Jarman from Newtown, Powys.

The first entry into the ring captured the top price from the flock. An ARR/ARR shearling gimmer sired by Haddo Jumbo and in lamb to Grougfoot Jocks Favourite, was knocked down to Messrs TD & MJ Orrells & Son of Montgomery, Powys.
