SOLWAY & TYNE TEXEL BREEDERS CLUB LATE AUTUMN SHOW & SALE OF 641 Accredited Pedigree Registered Texel Sheep Saturday 25th September 2004 A lamb ram from the Milnbank flock lifted the top price of 6,200gns at the second show and sale on behalf of the Solway & Tyne Texel Breeders Club on Saturday 25th September 2004. Milnbank Kevin a ARR/ARR lamb from Margaret Lyon sold for 6,200gns. Kevin, a Durisdeer Instructor son and out of a Glenside daughter, he was knocked down to local breeders M & MA Ridley of Haltcliffe, Hesket-new-Market, Wigton. Also from the same home saw another Instructor bred group 1 lamb sell for 2,600gns to AH Ritson of Ireby Hall, Carlisle. First entry into the sale ring was a shearling ram from A & N Miller of the Joyfield flock based at Kirkpatrick Fleming, Lockerbie, which sold for 1,500gns. Annan Jimmy a June 2003 born group 1 son of Annan Imperial II, he was successfully bought by A & J Miller of Old Walls, Lockerbie. In the female section, the leading price was 6,000gns for the supreme champion a shearling gimmer consigned by Douganhill Farms of Castle Douglas. A daughter of Cambwell I Catcher, she was purchased by Procter Farms Ltd, of Slaidburn, Clitheroe. Another shearling gimmer from Douganhill Farms sold for 2,400gns. Bred by Cambwell Inventor and out of a Craighead daughter, she was knocked down to JD Houghton of Isherwood Farm, Lancs. Averages - 105 shearling rams £379.10 (plus £35.05), 192 lamb rams £292.26 (plus £25.93), 115 shearling gimmers £332.07 (minus £42.96). |
