PROLLEY MOOR TEXEL SALE REPORT

The dispersal sale of the Prolley Moor pedigree texel flock on Friday 24th January 2003 on behalf of Mr MW Hamer attracted a strong interest from buyers travelling from a wide distance.

On offer was 30 in-lamb ewes together with nearly 20 lamb rams. Trade throughout was very brisk which reflected on the prices achieved.

Top price of the day was 800gns for an Easterseat bred ewe sired by Turin Cain, she was knocked down to Mr SJ Smith of Penybryn, Welshpool. Another Easterseat bred ewe attracted next leading price at 500gns. Sired by Pergill Emmadale she was sold to Armadale Home Farm, Isle of Skye.
Mr W Nicholls of Ivy Hurst Farm, Milwich, Staffs, a Far Hey bred gimmer, by Watchknowe Escalibur, sold for 430gns. At 350gns was a Penstones gimmer by Kirtle Deputy, and again she purchased by Mr SR Smith, Welshpool.

The leading price was for a pure bred Texel was 340gns and was paid by Messrs RS & J Bradley of Far Hey Farm, Cross Lane, Salterforth, Colne..
