LATE AUTUMN SHOW & SALE OF
Accredited Pedigree Registered Texel Sheep

On Saturday 27th September 2003 Harrison & Hetherington
Limited conducted the annual show and sale on behalf of the Solway & Tyne
Texel breeders Club.
The pre-sale judging was most ably carried out by Miss Jill Perrings of Tilt
Hammer Mill, Richmond, Settle. She made light work of a very difficult task as
over 70 sheep were presented for judging.

The championship was awarded to a very strong shearling ram consigned by Mr Richard
Henderson of Tobermore, Magherafelt, Co.Londonderry, N.Ireland, which later sold
for 900gns to Mr WJ Knox, Mid Haddo, Fyvie.
The reserve position was awarded to a very stylish lamb ram brought forward by
Messrs Ridley of Haltcliffe, Hesket-new-Market which later sold for 360gns.
The top price of the day went to regular exhibitor Mr Alan Cochrane of Bush
Mills, Co.Antrim, whose long journey was well rewarded with a price of 1,900gns
paid
for Seneirl Jackdaw a March born born lamb. He sold to Messrs WD Adams & Son
of Torhousekie Farm, Wigtown.
Local breeders, Messrs Barrow of Greenwood Farm, topped the shearling section
with a tremendous shapey ram selling for 1,700gns to GE Slater of Whiteley Hay
Farm, Butley, Cheshire.
The female section was particularly buoyant with Mr Alex Brown’s Stonefieldhill
exceptional pen being particularly sought after topping at 1,450gns for a ARR/ARR
shearling gimmer which later sold to Messrs A & C Watson of Byresteads
Farm, Cockermouth.

(minus £85.66), 215 Lamb Rams £266.43 (minus £79.78), 106 Shearling
Gimmers £375.03 (minus £78.28.
5 Ewes £308.70 (plus £172.20).
