On Friday 1st October 2004 at Kirkby Stephen Mart, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual prize show and sale of 2,751 Swaledale Gimmer Lambs, also 1,516 Swaledale and other breed ewes and 299 Bluefaced Leicester, Texel, Suffolk, Cheviot and Charollais rams and females

The Prize Show and Sale of Swaledale Gimmer Lambs was kindly sponsored by Eden Farm Supplies (Brough) and judged by Mr T Wallace, Farneyshield, who made the following awards:

1st – Messrs R Marwood & Son, Long Green £125 to Messrs Wallace, Farneyshield
2nd – Mr R S Harker, Overthwaite - £85 to Messrs Dawson, Kentmere Hall
3rd – Mr D Birbeck, Villa Park - £100 – to Mr B Smith, Whygill Head.

Prices for Swaledale ewes were lower on the year to average £33.81 (down £4.99), Swaledale gimmer lambs were up on the year by 75p per head to average £40.82.

Rams averaged £336.13 (up £37.58)

Females averaged £103.70 (up £6.77)

Bluefaced Leicester rams were the highlight of the sale selling to a top of £1,600 and averaging £500.36.
