Santon Suffolks lift trade for in-lamb females A consignment of in lamb Suffolk gimmers from Sandy Fraser of County Turf Ltd (Farm), Scunthorpe, N.Lincs, secured the top four prices on Friday 11th November 2005 at the annual in-lamb Suffolk show and sale at Borderway. The leading price of 1,200gns went to a ARR/ARR gimmer sired by Bentley Celebration and out of a Santon Zing bred daughter and goes back to 80/Z40 one of the best Muiresk Scot Free daughters. She sold in lamb to Cairness Destiny and went to Mr S Cobbald of Sudbury, Suffolk. Following at 900gns also from Santon, was another ARR/ARR gimmer again in lamb to Destiny. Another daughter of Bentley Celebration and out of a Santon Zinzan bred mother who sold at the Santon Sale for 2,300gns and her grand mother also sold for 2,200gns at the same sale. She was knocked down to Messrs Weaver & Griffiths of Holm, Orkney.
The Champion from the pre-sale judging, also from Santon, came in next at 800gns. A daughter of Clyda Ace and selling in lamb to Glenho First Impression, she sold to Mr S Cobbald again from Suffolk. The sale included two reduction consignments, the first from the Ulti-mate flock of Messrs A & C Watson. The top price of 240gns went to a one crop ewe purchased by Mr Johnstone of Hereford. The second reduction was from the Hans flock of Messrs HF & A Porksen, who saw a top price of 420gns for a one crop ewe which sold to Messrs Horsley of Lowther Street, Penrith. Averages: |
