Suffolk breeders and enthusiasts gathered for the annual early Suffolk sale at Carlisle on Wednesday 3rd August 2005. Another good entry of stock was presented and attracted a top bid of 1,000gns. Leading the sale was a shearling ram from Northumberland breeders, Messrs Walton of the Roseden flock, Alnwick. Their ARR/ARR ram, a son of Muiresk Spectrum and out of a Glenhead Glayva bred mother, had earlier in the day won the reserve championship ticket. He was sold to J Messenger of Ayton Farm, Perth.
Next in line at 700gns was a lamb ram from local breeder D Jones of the Thurston flock near Thurstonfield, Carlisle. Carrying an ARR/ARR geno, this Cairness Spellbound sired lamb was purchased by J Muir & Son of Cleughbrae Farm, Mouswald, Dumfries.
The events overall champion, a lamb ram from David and Paula Reid of the Conchar flock at Mouswald, Dumfries, sold for 550gns. This was another ARR/ARR and sired by Crosemanor Jubilee King, and out of a Crosemanor Costa bred mother, he was successfully knocked down to Glenkiln Farm Partnership from Crocketford, Dumfries.
North east breeders AR Lawson & Son from the Als’now flock, Newcastle on Tyne sold their lamb ram for 500gns to W & J Borland of Castlehill Farm, Castle Douglas. Averages – 9 shearling rams £449.17, 25 lamb rams £357.00, 19 females £118.26. |
