Northumberland Suffolk breeders Mark and Helen Lewis topped the annual
accredited show for the breed in Carlisle with a home-bred
ram lamb which sold for 2,200gns.

Purchasers were Iain Barbour, aged 25, and his sister, Judith, 19 for
use as a stock ram in their respective Solway Bank and Ewebank flocks
based at Annan. Judith's Ewebank flock has been collecting numerous trophies
at local and regional shows this season.
The scrapie genotype 1 ram lamb is by Perrenpit Consort, a son of Solway
Bank Ranger bred by Iain Barbour.
Perrenpit Consort was bought by the Lewises, who run their Redhill flock
at Portgate, Allendale, for his colour and conformation and he has since
been breeding well.
The championship, placed by judge Robert Fleming, of Hillhead, Kirkpatrick
Fleming, Lockerbie, went to Annie Hutchon, of Maulscastle Farm, Lockerbie,
with her Cumberland Show male champion, another ram lamb from her Evandale
flock.

By Balmaud McCoy the ARR/ARQ lamb is out of a Blackbrae Bustino ewe
with a grand dam by Cairness Pino and was placed fourth at the Royal
Highalnd
Show and second at Ayr this year.
Next in line at 1400gns was another ARR/ARR ram lamb sired by Stockton
Sky’s the Limit and from Messrs Watson of Byresteads Farm, Cockermouth.
His mother, a daughter of Stockton Caesars Son and his grand dam going
back the Pankymoor breeding, this lamb was purchased by TJ Carr of Ridge
House Farm, Saltburn by Sea, North Riding of Yorkshire.
Messrs Watson also sold a Glenho Golan sired ram lamb at 850gns. Another
ARR/ARR genotype lamb, he was knocked down to M Quinn, Whinnyhall Farm,
Kinglassie, Fife.
Perthshire breeder, Robert Neill of the Rossiebank flock sold an ARR/ARR lamb
for 800gns. A son of Cairness Cruiser and out of a Cairness bred dam, he was
sold to A Innes-Smith of Heddonsteads Farm, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Ruth Stevenson of Howgill Foot, Kaber dispersed her Fresh flock selling up to
1,650gns for a shearling gimmer. A daughter of Cairness Golden Jubilee and out
of a Hallhill bred mother, she was purchased by RD Fleming of Hillhead, Kirkpatrick
Fleming, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire.
