A top call of 3,600gns was paid for a ram lamb at the annual Suffolk show and sale on Friday 1st August 2003 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Consigned from the Rossiebank flock of Mr Robert Neill, Dunning, Perth, this outstanding lamb comes from one of the best female lines in Rossiebank and Cairness. Sired by Cariness Cruiser and out of a Fordafourie bred ewe, he carries a geno type of ARR/ARR. Successful joint buyers were Mr DJ Duncan of Laurelbank, Co.Antrim, N.Ireland and Mr JG Douglas of Woodhead of Cairness, Fraserburgh.
The first prize lamb and reserve overall champion from the Alsnow flock of Mr Alan Lawson & Son of South Farm, Newcastle, secured the next leading price ticket at 900gns. Sired by Glenisla Grimaldi and bred out of a ewe by Fordafourie Braveheart whose breeding goes back to many noted show and sale successes. He was knocked down to Mr EW Boothman of Howden Park Farm, Keighley, W.Yorkshire. Selling at 700gns was a ram lamb from Mr DW Henderson of the Burndale flock based at Hexham. By the noted sired Muiresk Powerpacker he sold to Messrs J Woodburn & Ptrs of Mansrigg Hall, Ulverston.
Leading the female section 700gns was a shearling gimmer from the Greenside flock of Laine Daff, Old Barn Road, Renfrewshire. Her outstanding gimmer already has showing winning success to her credit with two Championships and a Champion of Champions in June of this year.
