SUFFOLK IN-LAMB SALE
FRIDAY 6th DECEMBER 2002

A special sale of in lamb Suffolk females was held on Friday 6th December 2002 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle which attracted consignments from noted flocks which included Boreland, Southholm, Ladykirk, Rugley, Cairness and Troutal flocks.

Topping the sale at 2,000gns was a shearling gimmer from Mr R Fleming's Boreland flock of Hillhead Farm, Kirkpatrick Fleming, Lockerbie. Sired by Glenho Superman and out of a Stockton Smooth Operator daughter, she already has a number of rosettes to her credit winning 3rd prize at this years Royal Highland Show and reserve champion at Biggar Show. She was successfully bought by Mr A Gray of Langside Farm, Lanark.

The next leading price from the Boreland flock was a one crop ewe by Muiresk Champion and out of a Muiresk Maverick ewe. At 680gns she goes to Mr MA Evans of Tan yr Accar, Denbigh.

The second top price ticket of the sale came from the Southholm flock of Mr JF Allan, Burghmuir, Biggar. Selling for 720gns was a one crop ewe by the noted sire Stockton Almightly and going back to Cairness The Best on her dams pedigree. She was sold to Messrs John Steele of West End, Jackton, East Kilbride.

A two crop ewe from the Cairness flock of Mr JG Douglas, Woodhead of Cairness, Fraserburgh sold for 600gns. Sired by Bridgestone Full O'Pride and out of Cariness Court bred ewe, she was knocked down to an undisclosed buyer.

Topping the Ladykirk consignment from Messrs RD Fleming of Whitsome, Duns, was a gimmer sired by Stockton Supersire. At 320gns she was knocked down to Messrs J & A Nelson, Redcroft, Castle Douglas.

The leading price tag from the Rugley consignment of Messrs EA & L Jackson, Alnwick, was a two crop ewe which sold for 240gns. She was purchased by Mrs M McCreadie of Dryden, Hawick.
