KINMUNDY, STRATHISLA & CONVETH SUFFOLK SPECTACULAR SALE
FRIDAY 15th NOVEMBER 2002

The Kinmundy flock of H Emslie, Brae of Coynach, Mintlaw, Peterhead, the Strathisla flock of R Wilson, North Dorlaithes, Turriff and the Conveth flock of Messrs Proctor & Co, Mains of Tollo, Turriff were well received at Borderway Mart on Friday 15th November, with a packed ringside coming from all over the UK.

Heading the days trading at 4,000gns was the Kinmundy flock with a Laurelbank Dexter sired shearling gimmer. She sold in lamb to Baileys Riverdance and found her new home with Niall Walsh of Castlegrogan, Co.Laois, Eire.

2,200gns was the next price appearing three times all for Strathisla shearling gimmers and all three being bought by local breeder Mr Martin Dixon of Smallthwaite House, Calthwaite, Penrith. All were daughters of the noted Stockton Storm sire. On Mr Dixon's shopping list was another Storm daughter. She sold in lamb to the Edinburgh Champion lamb who sold for 14,000gns from Strathisla, and she was knocked down at 2,100gns.

1,900gns was paid by Mr D Calvert of Southfield, West Marton, Nr Skipton, North Yorkshire to secure yet another Storm daughter this time she sold in lamb to Fordafourie Rio.

Leading the Conveth flock was a one crop ewe at 750gns. A daughter of Glenhead Ginola she sold to Messrs A & C Watson of Byresteads Farm, Cockermouth.

Averages - Kinmundy flock 30 ewes £254.10, 16 shearling gimmers £603.09; Strathisla flock 10 ewes £605.85, 19 shearling gimmers £1,295.92; Conveth flock 25 ewes £330.52, 13 shearling gimmers £311.76.

An added attraction to the "The Suffolk Spectacular Sale" was a £1000 Cash Bonanza going to one of the lucky purchasers, the winner of which was Mr F Stockdale, Holme Farm, Dearham, Maryport.
