Supreme Champion - Elagh Action Man

At the Rouge society premier show and sale at Carlisle, trade throughout was strong with averages showing an increase on the year.

Leading the sale at 600gns was the days reserve male champion, a lamb ram from local breeder John Smithson of Skelcies Hall, Kirkby Stephen. East of Eden Executive, a February born triplet, has already been recognised through the show season winning male and breed champion at this years Great Yorkshire show. A son of Kinsella Davey and out from a Tullygarley bred mother, he was sold to J Gate of Langford Farm, Northwich, Cheshire.

Following at 580gns was the events overall male champion, a senior ram from Samuel Smyth of the Magherabeg flock based at Co.Antrim, N.Ireland. Elagh Action Man, a group one ram, won reserve male champion at this year Royal Highland Show. He was knocked down to JR Lloyd of Craigllwyn Farm, Oswestry, Shropshire.

The second lamb ram entry from John Smithson featured next at 550gns. East of Eden Eagle, January born twin sired by East of Eden Catalyst, was purchased by SJ Smyth of Randalstown, Co. Antrim.

Mr & Mrs JR Wilkinson of Langlands Farm, Richmond, sold their sole shearling ram entry for 450gns. Langlands Dan, a January born quad by Magherabeg Casanova, was sold to R Hall & son of Inglewood Edge, Dalston.

Averages – 1 aged ram £609.00, 2 shearling rams £367.50, 12 lamb rams £307.13, 2 ewes £315.00, 8 shearling gimmers £211.31, 8 ewe lambs £164.06
