Eighteenth Annual Show and Sale of
Bleu du Maine Sheep
Sale report:FRIDAY 16th AUGUST 2002 William Baillie, of Lanarkshire, swept the board at the Bleu du Maine national show and sale of pedigree sheep at Borderway on August 16. Five of his consignment of seven secured top prices, with a triple top of 700gns. First was a six month old ram lamb from Mr Baillie's Calla flock at Biggar, Calla Zac, which sold to Messrs Finlay, of Blairgowrie, Perthshire. The second Calla entry at 700gns was a shearling ram, selling to A and B Milne, of Huntly, Aberdeenshire. The third joint top price went to another shearling ram to P and MR Carruthers. Errol breeder J Farquharson paid 600gns for the reserve male champion, the February 2002 born Calla Zoro from Mr Baillie whose final leading priced entry a shearling ram sold for 550gns to Alcan Farms, Morpeth, Nothumberland. The male and overall champion was from Percy Tait, of Broughton Hackett, Worcester, with a January 2001 born shearling ram which was supreme champion at the Royal and Royal Welsh shows. It sold for 600gns to M Parker, of Darlington, Co Durham. Two other bids of 550gns were made by R and L Galloway, of Newton Stewart, and WH Davidson and Sons, of Hexham. Averages: 4 aged rams, £264.63; 11 shearling rams, £284.45; 12 ram lambs, £299.25; 2 shearling gimmers, £105; 18 ewe lambs, £170.92. << back |
