Eleventh annual show and sale of MV accredited rams
and females A top bid of 1,400gns led the sale at the Berrichon du Chers premier show and sale at Carlisle on Friday August 29th 2003.
Leading the sale was an ARR/ARR shearling ram from HM Shakespeare of the Inkerman flock based at Walnut Tree Farm, Abergavenny. The ram, a single born January shearling, was knocked down to Mrs ERE Hazelby of the Felin flock from Brongest, Newcastle-Emlyn, Ceredigion. The overall champion winner, a shearling ram from Messrs Fraser & McGlothlin of High Flatts Farm, Gilcrux, Wigton, took the next leading price tag of 850gns. Their home bred ram, an ARR/ARR January born twin, sold to Dumfriesshire breeders, A Lewis & Co of Breconside, Thornhill. Another shearling ram secured the next price of 750gns consigned by Woodston Manor Partnership of Lindbridge, Tenbury Wells. Woodston Charmer, an ARR/ARR, already has a creditable show record to his name from winning Male Champion at this years Royal show and Royal Welsh show. He sold to GJ & JE Parkhouse of Satchells, Melrose. Selling for 600gns was an aged ram from HM Shakpespeare from the Inkerman flock. This imported ram, a past winner of the Paris Show, was knocked down to IW Price of Clawdd Offa, Brymbo, Wrexham. Also selling for 600gns was a shearling ram from the Newark flock of Frances Barbour based at Sanquhar. This single born March ram sold to Prestonhall Farming Co, Pathhead, Mid Lothian. A lamb ram from the Strathallan flock of Robert Graham was knocked down for 600gns going to N Cruickshank of Cowford Farm, Cleghorn, Lanark. Averages:- |
