The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show and Sale on Wednesday 26th November within Borderway Mart, Carlisle attracted the latgest entry this year – 108 catalogued – and was augmented by nearly 100 head of pedigree cows and heifers from the “Margil” herd.

Top price of 1,400gns was for a very smart young PI Comestar Lee cow from Martin and Gill Carlile’s “Margil” herd. Sold close to calving Margil Lee Lass VG86 now joins Messrs Dent’s “Catterlen” herd near Penrith.

The next three prices all 1,350gns were for fresh animals from the excellent club consignments. Kirkbride Honeybee (by Duncan Progress) off a 10,100kgs 4% Arpagone heifer from Joe and Zan Kirk of Auldgirth, Dumfries won the championship under the watchful eye of judge David Barton (Luptonhall) and now joins Messrs Harrington’s “Harhill” re-formed herd at Birds Hill Farm, Raughton, Dalston, Carlisle.

Also at 1,350gns was a newly calved 2nd lactation Ingleview cow , impeccably bred from the Walkerbrae Lassie/Blackstar Dandy family. By Integrity and off a Rudolph she was knocked down to Messrs Dent of the “Greengill” herd from Greengill, Penrith.

At the same price was a fairly fresh Fatal daughter from Skirwith Hall Farms at Penrith which was knocked down to Mr R Pattinson of Beckfoot, Silloth.
