Borderway Mart hosted another hugely successful pedigree Holstein Show and Sale on Wednesday 20th November 2002, combining the monthly Border & Lakeland Show & Sale with the Dispersal of Lonspark and youngstock from Rendham. The judge of the show was Mr Rob Little from the Solway Herd.

The sale, although lacking any real stars of pedigree was a very decent turnout of fresh young cows and heifers. Trade was very consistent and competitive realising 100% being sold.

The Champion and top price of the day, 1450gns was for a daughter of Crifflehill Manager, Crifflehill Miriam 36 GP80 from the Crifflehill herd of L Brough & Sons, Tallentire. She sold as a fresh 2nd calver, to Mr B Salisbury, Beech Farm, Carlisle. At 1350gns also for L Brough & Sons, was a fresh heifer Crifflehill Omo 24 going to Messrs J & E Scott & Son, Mid Farm, Torpenhow, Carlisle.

From the famous Stookey Fagin Scarlet Red EX94 –2E family was a fresh GP84 Winchester heifer, Heritage Winchester Lephina, from Ian Caddy, Frizington, sold for 1300gns to Mesrs GS & B Barwise, Whitehaven.

The Reserve Champion of the show, Broadlea Rubytrae Flo, realised 1250gns for Mr Ian Duncan, Priorsford, Annan. Sired by Lenzway Tesk Rubytrae, she enters the herd of Mesrs JD & SI Bowness, Clilburn Hall, Penrith.
