Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show & Sale Wednesday 14th December 2005

Once again the Border & Lakeland Holstein club attracted a wide range of buyers with over 50% exceeding 1,000gns. The show was judged by Mr Day, Bickleygate Holsteins, New Sheepfold Farm, Cleveland.

The top price was 1,600gns Threelimes Leader April PI 5 consigned by RS Musson, Bardarroch Farm, Ochiltree, Ayrshire. Sired by Comestar Leader and from the Calbrett Valiant April EX 2E family she now enters the herd of DG & AD Morgan & Hughes, Cumnock.

Annandale Recon Liz consigned by W Armour & Son, realised the second top price 1,400gns. This freshly calved Emka Recon heifer bred from 5 generations of Excellent or VG cows was sold to RB & C Johnston, Skirwith Abbey, Penrith.

The champion, Wormanby Mtoto Lisa also sold for 1,400gns consigned by H&M Hodgson, Burgh By Sands, Carlisle. This very successive family originating from the Black & White Sale was sold into the Cheviotview Herd of Andrew Hodge, Rulesmain, Duns, Berwickshire.

Dalesend Marigold 126 GP82

Dalesend Marigold 126 GP82 claimed the Reserve Champion title consigned by Dalesend Farms Limited. This young cow, freshly calved in her second lactation was sired by Miley Gilbert. GP Taylor & Sons, Swathburn, Great Asby, Appleby for 1,100gns.
