REPORT

The quality in April for the Border & Lakeland Club Show & Sale exceeded the expectations of the judge, Mr Jim Gray, Drumtall, East Kilbride.

Mr Gray tapped forward Logan Jodas Brenma consigned by Brian Yates, East Logan, Castle Douglas. This fabulous young prospect now fresh in her first lactation sired by Meiklefirth Jodas and sold for 1,080gns to T Howie, Muirside Farm, Holywood.

Andrew Williamson, Ingleden Holsteins, Penrith, consigned Hoarehall Oleanda 171 VG85. This silky young cow, a Robthom Integrity daughter, claimed the Reserve Champion title along with the top price of the day 1,550gns. She now enters the Woodcatt Herd of DR & HM Horsley Ltd, Woodhouse Farm, Catterlen, Penrith.

Annandale Silver Buck 2 from the herd of WJ Armour & Son, The Milton, Moffatt brought the second top price of 1,500gns. This bull by Kellywell Fred Devon was bred from 6 generations of EX or VG cows from the Gornal Nannette family and goes to A Mitchell & Co, Newton of Wiston, Biggar.

Ingleview Miss America PI 16 GP83, consigned by R&E Butterfield, Linghaw, Bentham, realised 1,380gns. Potentially the 6th generation of EX or VG , this stylish young cow in her 2nd lactation joins the herd of J & K Rowland, Smape farm, Lowgate, Hexham.

A special selection of youngstock consigned by Andrew Williamson, Ingleden created quite a stir amongst prominent breeders. Twenty two maidens sired by leading bulls realised an impressive average of 520gns. Ingleden Cousteau Moonlite, sired by Silky Cousteau, and from two generations of 50,000kgs cows, sold into the Wormanby Herd of H&M Hodgson, Burgh By Sands for 620gns. Also at 620gns, a Lheros daughter, Ingleden Lheros Monogram, bred from the famous Avondale family sold into the Bridge End herd of C Dent, Kirkby Thore, Penrith.
