There was keen demand for fresh heifers and young cows with a premium paid for top class type and depth of pedigree. There was a 100% clearance for females with an average of well over £1,000 for 60 head. The championship award went to J & R Hunter from Lanarkshire for Letterkenny Jogger Kathy 2 which also raised the top price of the day of 1,300gns. Sired by Jogger this heifer was described by judge Mr Stephen Morley of “Petteril” Holsteins as having “Quality from the tip of her nose to the top of her tail”. She now travels to Inverness to join the herd of C Innes and Son of Drumduan Farm, Auldearn. The second top price of 1,200gns was paid twice. Firstly for a smart second calved cow which stood second in it’s class from H & M Hodgson of the “Wormanby” herd, and secondly for a gorgeous heifer sired by Inquirer with a beautiful frame and angular chine from D & E Graves. This heifer stood second in her class to the chapion. Both animals now travel North to join the herd of C Innes of Drumduan Farm.
