Pedigree Dairy Day Show and Sale of
PEDIGREE AND PI HOLSTEIN CATTLE

The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show & Sale held on Wednesday 15th September at Borderway realised a good entry of both type and production of the catalogued animals sold through the packed ringside. Mr Hugh Neilson, Park Farm, Auldhouse, East Kilbride, tapped forward the champions and the resultant prize-winners of the day. The show and trade of cattle was brisk with ten lots over 1,000gns.

Hawthwaite Tucker 16

Realising the top price of the day was Hawthwaite Tucker 16, for 1,600gns, consigned by MW Cooper, Upper Hawthwaite, Broughton In Furness. This much-admired heifer, was first prize and overall champion, and was secured by Mesr H&G Mair, Townhead Farm, Mouswald, Dumfries.

Clinching the second top price, also consigned by the Mr J Gray, Drumtall Miss America 15 PI. Sired by Mr Jed Approval, she now enters the herd of Mesrs Dent, Greengill Farm, Penrith, selling for 1,220gns.

Stowbeck Milkstar Juliet, sold for 1,200gns consigned by Skirwith Hall Farms, Skirwith, Penrith . After some spirited bidding from the ringside, she was knocked down to Mesr H&G Mair, Townhead Farm, Mouswald, Dumfries.

RH Carter & Son consigned Gerrard Pro Ruby 15, a recently calved heifer by Gerrard Progress. She was purchased by Mesr M Reid & Sons, Fulton, Waterbeck, Lockerbie for 1,100gns.
