The Twelfth show and sale of Pedigree Red and White cattle on Wednesday 11th August 2004 brought together an impressive show of good quality coloured cattle and a large number of spectators to Borderway Mart with almost a 100% clearance of animals.

The Judge Mr Robert Cunningham of West Mossgiel, Maughlin Ayrshire tapped Middle Crummie Lee forward as his champion, owned and bred by Messrs Whiteford, Middle Farm, Ruleholme, Brampton, this fine young cow was purchased for 1,900gns by the judge.

The Reserve Champion from the same home was Middle Thelmas’s Rudi M2 which sold for 1,400gns to DA Howie & Sons, Morwick, Acklington, Morpeth, Northumberland.

Top price of the day went to DA Howie & Sons for the Highland Show Junior Ayrshire Champion 2004 Morwick Ruth 136 recently classified VG86 who sold for 2,000gns to T Howie of Muirside Farm, Holywood, Dumfries.

Local breeders JJ & MH Mattinson & Son of Troutbeck Farm, Heads Nook secured a bid of 1,450gns to take home Stevenson’s Ursula 4 a young heifer from MW & A Stevenson of Kirkminnoch, Dumfries.

Auctioneers for the Sale Andrew Templeton and Robert Taylor agreed that this would probably be one of the best show and sales of Red and White cattle seen in the UK for a very long time.
