The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show & Sale held
on Wednesday 21st July 2004 at Borderway realised a large entry of
both type and production
of the catalogued animals sold through the packed ringside.
Mr Dean
Anderson, Mayne Holsteins, Elgin, tapped forward the champions and
the resultant prize-winners of the day. The show and trade of cattle
was brisk with a 100% clearance and twenty animals at 1,000gns to a
top of 1,700gns.
Realising the top price of the day was Wormanby Convincer Linda,
for 1,700gns, consigned by Harry & Margaret Hodgson, Wormanby, Burgh-By-Sands,
Carlisle. This much-admired heifer, second in her class, was secured
by Mesr JD Bowness, Clilburn Hall, Penrith. Clinching the second top
price, also consigned by the Hodgson family, was the overall champion
of the show; Wormanby Airmail Flow. Sired by Wormanby Airmail, a Madawaska
Aerostar son, she now enters the herd of J&W Baillie, Hillhead
of Covington, Biggar, selling for 1,500gns.

Stowbeck Formation Lilibet 2, the Reserve Champion of the show, sold
for 1,480gns consigned by Skirwith Hall Farms, Skirwith, Penrith. Along
with the top priced heifer, she now enters the Clilburnhall herd of
Mesr JD Bowness.
The Fulpark herd of M Reid & sons, Fulton, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire
sealed the bid of 1,450gns with Tardoes Eddie Lulu PI. This potential
7th generation of VG or EX was consigned by Messr Wilson, The Trees,
Newton Arlosh, Carlisle.
A consignment of 31 holsteins from Mr RL Rothwell, Twizell Dyke Farm,
Chester Le Street, Co Durham realised a top price of 1,100gns for Foldsclose
Outside Angela. This Outside daughter enters the herd of JA Martin
Farms, Orton Grange Farm, Carlisle.

NUTBERRY DISPERSAL SALE
For K & M Irving
A large crowd of buyers from throughout the country and predominantly
north of the border converged at Borderway for the Nutberry Dispersal
Sale for Ken & Mary Irving.
Nutberry Real Mary 4, a Bricknell Reality daughter, secured the 1,300gns
bid by John Jamieson, Woodhead. In her 4th lactation, and back in
calf to Annan Jolt, she is giving 32.2kgs daily.
Realising 1,100gns, also in her 4th lactation was Nutberry Benson
Polly. JM & KA Harrington, Flatt Bank, Dalston took home this
Aquila Blackstar Benson daughter.
Also at 1,100gns was Nutberry Lee Mona a heifer giving 25.6kgs daily.
This stylish heifer by Comestar Lee is back in calf to Annan Jolt,
and goes to the Covington herd of J&W Baillie, Hillhead off Covington,
Biggar.
The Firm of WA Clark, Whins, Ecclefechan secured the 1,000gns bid
on Nutberry Leadership Mary. At the end of her heifer lactation she
is due to calf again in September to Annan Jolt.
