The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show & Sale held on Wednesday 16th June at Borderway realised a nice blend of type and production catalogued animals sold through the packed ringside. Andrew Bailey, Baileys Holsteins, Crook O Lune, Kendal tapped forward the champions and the resultant prize-winners of the day. The show and trade of cattle was brisk with thirteen at 1,000gns to a top of 1,300gns.

Taking the top price of the day was the Hawthwaite herd of MW Cooper, Broughton In Furness, for Hawthwaite Irene 26. This recently fresh calved Progress daughter realised 1,300 gns for Mesr WR & JE Dixon, Beech House, Hayton, Aspatria Also from the Hawthwaite herd was Hawthwaite Cutie 15, the Reserve Champion of the day. This Progress daughter in her 2nd lactation was purchased by Mesr JG & JW Edgar, Flatt, Great Orton, Carlisle for 1,200gns.

The second top price of 1,250gns was brought by Bankdale Gayle PI from the Petteril herd of Stephen and Anne Morley, Southwaite, Carlisle. Sired by Moody-Meadows SLCM Cody and out of a VG87 Mirage daughter, she now enters the Highoaks Herd of Edward and Linda Wilson, High Oaks, Calthwaite, Penrith.

The champion of the day was Springside Zed Maud consigned by Mr JD Cochrane, Darvel, Ayrshire. This stylish heifer by a homebred bull now joins the Baileys Herd of Andrew Bailey, Crook-O Lune, Kendal.
