Yet another busy, varied and very successful day of trading pedigree dairy cattle occurred at Borderway Mart on Wednesday 21st April 2004. Again there was a virtually a 100% clearance of animals sold.

The Border & Lakeland show and sale of pedigree Holsteins saw a small but very tidy entry of fresh heifers and young cows sell consistently well to average not far short of £1000 a head. Immediately following was the annual Spring Sale of pedigree Jersey cattle for the Lakes Counties Club.

The top price and Champion was awarded to Espland Knighthood Alison 2 a heifer consigned by DI & FM Cannon, Espland Hill, Brampton, Appleby. This Painley Knighthood daughter was taken home for 1,150 gns by the judge Mr Frank Chester of the Tomrudd herd, Embleton, Cockermouth.

The next top call of the Border & Lakeland Show & Sale went to the consigner WN & HM Barton, Wood End, Kirkby Lonsdale. Mr D Hyslop, Meinside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie secured the bid of 1,050gns for this recently fresh heifer Barwood Integrity Drucella. Also from the same home was Barwood S-Man Topsy realising 1,020gns for Messrs Brough, Buckabank, Dalston Carlisle.
